State Fund Launches Two Support Funds to Assist California Businesses During COVID-19 Crisis

Essential Business Support Fund

To support California’s essential businesses during the COVID-19 crisis, State Fund has established the Essential Business Support Fund — a $50 million relief fund to help policyholders defray the costs of protecting workers from coronavirus and maintaining a safe workplace.

State Fund policyholders operating an essential business during the COVID-19 crisis may be eligible for a grant to help with safety-related expenses. Grants are available for reimbursement for items such as:

  • Goggles
  • Masks
  • Gloves
  • Cleaning supplies and services
  • Worksite modifications

Ineligible expenses include:

  • Home workstation equipment
  • Routine supplies
  • Regular staffing expenses

Individual grants can total up to $10,000 or twice the amount of the policyholder’s estimate annual premium, whichever is less.

Applications are available on StateFundCA.com.  Click here to access.

Policyholders can send their applications to covidsafetyfund@scif.com, or mail the application to:

Safety and Health Services
1030 Vaquero Circle
Vacaville CA, 95688

Please note, mailing the application may cause processing delays.

For the full list of qualifications, please review these requirements.

Please advise your State Fund policyholders to complete their applications as soon as possible. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.

State Fund is proud to stand with the essential workers who are risking their lives every day to hold our communities together and we will continue to look for additional ways in which we can provide support.

Returning California to Work COVID-19 Safety Protocol Fund

State Fund created an additional $50-million fund for businesses deemed non-essential by Governor Newsom’s executive order. The Returning California to Work COVID-19 Safety Protocol Fund will operate similarly to the Essential Business Support Fund, and will help non-essential businesses once the statewide stay-at-home restrictions are lifted. This fund will provide grants to qualified policyholders to help defray the costs of safety-related expenses, planned or already incurred, related to protecting their workforces from COVID-19.

Individual grants can total up to $10,000 or two times the policyholder’s estimated annual premium, whichever is less. Please advise your State Fund policyholders that applications for this fund will be made available at StateFundCA.com after statewide stay-at-home restrictions are lifted.
