Here at State Fund we promote positive social and environmental change in the communities we serve.
We do this through volunteer efforts, donations of time, money, and goods, and by promoting social and environmental well-being. We are aware of the impact we can have on our communities, and we acknowledge our responsibility to help make them a better place to live and work.
One way we do this is through State Fund’s initiative “Operation: Clean”, a toiletry drive to benefit homeless veterans.
According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, there are about 40,000 homeless veterans in the United States. California has seen a 17 percent rise in this number in the past three years, with more than 11,000 homeless veterans now living in our state.
State Fund employees drop off hotel or travel-sized toiletries into collection boxes at our offices throughout the state. All donations are delivered to veteran’s events called “Stand Downs”. Stand Downs are one- to three-day events providing much needed supplies and services to homeless veterans, such as food, shelter, clothing, health screenings, and VA Social Security benefits counseling.
Every little bit helps, and we believe that together we can make a difference. In 2019, State Fund donated more than 20,154 hygiene items to our veterans.
